The Future Me Project.
We have all heard of time capsules and are familiar with the idea of storing memories and items of value for our future selves. But now with the technology, we have seen an uprise of video time capsules. Essentially, you record yourself now and say some random things, and then in the future (it could be a week, a year, or ten years.) you rewatch it. This is a clip from a popular children's show "Arthur" we must have all at least heard of it. This clip shows the class opening a time capsule from 1910. You can watch the full episode on pbskids.org. But I'm not here to promote episodes from Arthur. No, I'm here to convince you all to make your own time capsule.
A time capsule is: noun
- a container storing a selection of objects chosen as being typical of the present time, buried for discovery in the future.
- In English it means, a container storing stuff in the modern time that will be buried and opened in the future.
- As we have known humans are obsessed with the future. Sci-fi movies are movies that try to predict the future. Psychics are people who read the future. Meteorologists are people who use weather patterns to predict the future.
- Humans are creatures that love the feeling of knowing and being in control of their (you guessed it) future. We can see many examples of that throughout history.
What I'm trying to say is, you don't need to make a time capsule that will be opened hundreds of years from now. You can, but what I'm asking is for you to make a 'capsule' whether it be a video or a diary that people will watch later. The reason I'm asking now, more than ever is because we're living through some crazy times. Times that people should record and be written down in the history books. I don't want humanity to make the same mistakes. And as many great people have said " Time (or history) is the best teacher". That is why I call all of you to action.
Thank you.
